2018 Under-the-Radar: Jackson Long

Long, a 6’0” 221 linebacker and multi-sport athlete for Lake Central, is a stout defensive player for the Indians.  With 112 tackles, three forced fumbles and seven sacks, Long has great instincts.  He exhibits quickness to read, react and flow to the ball.  He is also disruptive as a pass rusher, with quickness to shoot through gaps and reach the quarterback.

“I always want to improve and become the best player I can possibly be,” Long tells IndyScout.  “But the main motivation is winning, hopefully a championship next year.”

Long has visited Miami-Ohio, Eastern Michigan and Ball State.  Last fall he visited Indiana, Illinois, and Bowling Green but has not yet received his first offer.

Last week, Miami-Ohio received a verbal commitment from Bennett Clark (#56).  The 6’6″ 265 offensive lineman for Zionsville tells IndyScout that he visited the Redhawks five times and found them to be a great fit.

“I was really impressed with Chuck Martin and Coach Barnett as well as the facilities,” Clark said. “The academics are second to none in the MAC and that was a big factor for me.  They also have a great spiritual environment as well, and their team has a great culture that I can get behind.”

Five kickers to watch in Co/2018

Specialists are often unrecognized in recruiting, yet Indiana boasts a nice class of kickers in the class of 2018. Here are a few that can play at the next level:

2018 Under-the-Radar: Brandon Warren

Warren Central has produced a number of great prospects in recent years.  With Julius Brents and David Bell garnering offers from top college programs, that will continue in 2018.  Brandon Warren is another one to add to the mix.  Warren is a 6’2” 185-pound safety/linebacker who exhibits quickness as an edge rusher.

An offer eludes Warren, but that could change in the near future.  He tells IndyScout that he visited Illinois State and Bucknell last week.  Columbia, Cornell, Elon, and Tennessee State have also expressed interest.
