South Bend Adams QB Andrew Burgess committed to Eastern Kentucky (FCS) last night.  The Colonels get a 6’0″ 175 dual-threat quarterback.  Burgess also had an offer from Kentucky Christian.

“I feel as if EKU is the right place for me because of the academics, the large size of the campus, and my relationship with the coaches,” Burgess tells IndyScout. “They want me as a QB and that’s the position I want to play. It is also a perfect distance away from home. Coach Mirando and coach Mattox seem to have a lot of confidence in me since day one.”

“It’s just a great opportunity to play football around first-class people,” Anderson tells IndyScout. “I will receive one of the best educations in the country and play in a great conference and have opportunity to play in a bowl game every year. The coaching staff is great and I believe I will thrive in the defense they run. I’m excited for the opportunity to play early.”

Avon DL CJ Hunt committed to Eastern Michigan on Sunday.  Hunt decommitted from Bowling Green in 2016, and also had offers from Miami-Ohio and Buffalo.

“Coach Creighton recruited me consistently through the recruiting process, even when I was committed to Bowling, so that told me a lot about him,” Hunt tells IndyScout of his commitment.  “He cares more about making his players great men more than any head coach I’ve talked to, and he has a great plan for EMU football.”

Hunt said he “loved the university on every level” during his official visit.  He also cited an experience with EMU’s defensive line coach, Chuck Bullough, as an extra reason for choosing the Eagles.

“I sat in a meeting with him for an hour and he impacted my game a lot in that meeting, so I can’t wait to get there and have tons of hours a week with him,” Hunt said. “He’s going to get me to where I need to be.  It felt like home, a feeling that I’ve never felt with any other program.”

What is your birthday?

My birthday is December 13, 1999.

What is your greatest memory so far as a high school player?

My greatest memory of being a high school player so far is when I started the home opener on varsity as a freshman. It was just the chills and butterflies that I had never felt before. I felt like I was finally proving everyone wrong that I couldn’t get on varsity.

What motivates you to play football?

My motives to play is to be a role model to my three younger brothers, to make my parents proud, and to be well known.

Do you have any family members who have played?

My dad was a good football player. He played at Miami-Ohio where he is now in the Hall of Fame there. He continued to play on to the NFL level.

Do you have any recruiting visits scheduled in the near future?

The last visit I went on was Miami Ohio. I’m not sure as of now what will be next.

What are you looking for in a school?

In looking for colleges I look for an overall great program. Somewhere that’s going to push me to my limits academically and athletically.

“I wanted to go somewhere close to home,” Johnson tells IndyScout. “(with an) opportunity to win a championship. And they have an excellent medical program and Grand Rapids has excellent opportunities. I also loved the atmosphere up there.”

“I wanted to go somewhere that I’d have the opportunity to play at a high level while also getting a good education,” Mullett tells IndyScout.  “Western Illinois fit that for me. The coaching staff are all great guys. I love the direction of the program which made it an easy decision for me to make.”
