2018 Under-the-Radar: Herschel Blankenship

At 6’1″ 220, the Plainfield linebacker Herschel Blankenship has ideal size for the position.  He is instinctive, flows nicely to the ball and exhibits quickness to shed blocks.

Blankenship tells IndyScout that the only team to express interest in him is Ball State, where he went on a game day visit last November.  He added that he is looking for a school with a strong medical program.

“What motives me to play the game is the brotherhood you build with your teammates,” he said.

Busy week ahead for Ritter TE

A busy weekend is ahead for Henry Woodcock, a 2018 tight end for the defending 2A state champions Indianapolis Ritter.

The 6’3″ 210 Woodcock has a good frame with room to grow.  He is a smooth route runner with soft hands, adjusting to the ball and exhibiting a nice extra gear after the catch.

Woodcock tells IndyScout that he visited Ball State on Thursday and will visit Western Michigan tomorrow.  He will also visit Purdue on Monday.

Ditchley rising up

Payton Ditchley, a 6’3″ 270 offensive lineman, took MVP honors at the Best of the Midwest combine last month, and tells IndyScout that his recruiting is picking up.

His performance has not gone without notice of college coaches in the Midwest.

Ditchley is very versatile, having played both running back and linebacker as a sophomore at Indianapolis Lutheran.  He will start up front at Franklin Central this fall.

“I’m looking to improve everywhere, from feet to my punch,” Ditchley said.  “I’m somewhat new to the offensive line and I’m looking forward to dominating the other side of the ball for four quarters every game.  I just want to physically dominate the guy lined up across from me.”

Ditchley tells IndyScout that he has visited Indiana and Purdue, as well as junior days at Ball State and Miami (Ohio).
