Stickford lands back-to-back offers

7tdkdKRq_400x400

Carmel offensive lineman Mark Stickford is on a roll, landing back to back offers on Tuesday from Toledo and Central Florida.  The 6’6” 245-pound Stickford is an offensive tackle for the Greyhounds.  He is blessed with size, length, and blocks well in space.  He is also technique-sound in pass protection, playing with a wide base and getting good hand placement.

Stickford commented on his offer from Central Florida.  He said Knights offensive line coach Greg Austin watched him in a workout last week, and liked what he saw.

“He emphasized that my hard work got me his offer,” Stickford said.

Stickford said he “loves playing for my boys” and is motivated by his love for the game.  He will visit Harvard and Yale in June, where he received offers in March.  His father played at Albany and his great grandfather played at Purdue.

Getting to Know: Mikey Kidwell, West Lafayette QB

What is your birthday?

August 31, 1998

What is your greatest memory so far as a high school player?

Being able to compete for a State Championship in Lucas Oil Stadium.

What motivates you to play the game?

Knowing that I have a great family, great coaching staff, great teammates and great fans that will always be there to support me at every game, along with off the field also.

Do you have any family members who have played?

All four of my brothers played football.  One is still playing with me and the other who I played with for three years is graduating this year. Also my dad played in high school.

Have you had any recruiting attention lately?

No, I have not had any in the past few weeks, but I did have some during the season at Purdue.  They invited me to a couple of their games.

What are you looking for in a school?

In a college I am looking for a great staff, teammates and a championship-winning attitude.  I’m also looking for one with great academics that will help me with my future plans.

2017 Under-the-Radar: Castle QB Dayne Keller

zAFjLyX-_400x400

Dayne was highly-touted by ex-NFL coach and Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden last summer, and yet he currently holds no offers.  He has a solid arm, exhibits good awareness in the pocket and has poise under pressure.  Though not a dual-threat, he can extend the play with his legs and throw on the move.

Statistically, he had a phenomenal season, finishing the year with 3,119 yards and 43 touchdowns.  He led Castle to a regional victory last year (losing to eventual champion New Pal), and put 45 points on the board against a talented Bloomington South defense.

Recruiting attention is growing for Dayne.  He visited Indiana State and Ball State.  Purdue visited Dayne yesterday, and Ball State is slated for a visit this week.  An offer eludes him, though.  A strong senior season could change that.

Munster wideout flying under-the-radar

BvXGlrxCYAAMWRg

Munster wide receiver Jaylan Scott (pictured right) is a triple-phase player – a linebacker on defense, kickoff coverage man on special teams, and a dynamic receiver after the catch on offense, where he would fit best in college. He is physically strong and balanced in the open field, running through contact, shaking off would-be tackles and staying on his feet. He also exhibits change-of-direction and vision in space, frequently making defenders miss. He is a heavy downfield hitter on kickoff coverage, and is blessed with nice size (6’2” 185) and arm length. He currently holds one offer from Mississippi Valley State University, but more could come with a strong senior year.

Versatile New Prairie TE on brink of 1st offer

cPgadFKS

Tynan Williams’ recruiting attention continues to pick up. The 6’4” 235 multi-sport tight end/defensive lineman/linebacker from New Prairie seems to be on the brink of his first offer.

He has received interest from Illinois, Miami-Ohio, Purdue, and Western Michigan, as well as Ball State. All of those MAC teams have seen, or plan to see, him at school. He has also received phone calls from John Harbaugh. Though he isn’t used much as a receiver due to New Prairie’s run-based offense, Williams is a strong, effective run blocker who can reach the second level and strike a moving target. He has a tall, strong and long frame with room to grow in a college weight program. His college fit might be on defense. He can stand up and play linebacker, as well as put his hand in the dirt. He can play long, set an edge and flow to the ball.

Assistant coach Royce Williams said “Tynan’s ready to show everyone, especially the doubters that he’s a beast on both sides of the ball.”

What is your birthday?

January 28th, 1999.

What is your greatest memory so far as a high school player?

Starting against Ben Davis this season. This was the second and last time that I started this season and the feeling was inexplicable. They are one of our biggest rivals and the challenge was exhilarating.

What motivates you to play?

Since this was my first year playing football, all of the concepts as far as the game itself was concerned were foreign. My motivation is the opportunity to enhance my understanding of the game every chance that I get. It doesn’t take much to motivate me to play such a fun game.

In my immediate family, nobody has played football. I have a predominately basketball family, and I grew up playing it.

Have you had any recruiting attention lately?

I have attended Junior Days at Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois, Ball State University, Miami of Ohio, and University of Cincinnati. I currently hold one offer from Cornell University.

What are you looking for most in a school?
