Ben Davis quarterback Reese Taylor has received his first offer from Iowa.  He tells IndyScout that it was one he wasn’t expecting.

“I feel great,” Taylor said. “I didn’t even know it was coming.  I didn’t think my first offer would be so big.”

The 5’9″ 165 quarterback led the Giants to the semi-state in 2016.  He finished the season with 3,691 yards of total offense and 49 touchdowns.

Getting to Know: HSE QB Adam Mullett

Adam Mullett
What is your birthday?

My birthday is September 15, 1998.

What is your greatest memory as a high school player?

Greatest memory was beating Carmel in my first start as a varsity QB and beating them for the first time in 11 years.

What motivates you to play the game?

Being an under recruited QB. Not playing varsity as a junior was terrible but it made me work as hard as I could in order to lead my team as a senior.

Do you have any family members who have played?

My uncle played high school football as a four year varsity starter in Fort Wayne.

Have you had any recruiting attention lately?

No offers as of now but a few should be coming soon. I’m going on an official visit to Grand Valley State on the 2nd and Hillsdale College on the 3rd. I will be going to Western Illinois for an official visit in January. Schools that are interested are Western Illinois, Ohio, Butler, SIU, NIU, University of New Hampshire, UNI, Depauw, Wabash, Indiana State.

What are you looking for in a school?

Looking for a school that will challenge me academically and will push me to be the best student-athlete I can be. I want to major in some sort of business degree, most likely finance.

Dance makes big impact for Giants

Sir’Zion Dance transferred to Ben Davis from Pike High School and played a big role in the Giants’ defense, and a team which fell just short of reaching Lucas Oil last week. On tape, the 6’0” linebacker can make plays in space, gets good leverage as a tackler and instinctively flows to the ball. As a coverage man on special teams, he is also a good tackler in the open field. Dance, who finished the 2016 season with 84 tackles, was recently invited to the U.S. Army All-American Combine.

Keller commits to Marian

Castle quarterback Dayne Keller committed to Marian over the weekend.  The 6’2″ 185 Newburgh, Ind. quarterback is coming off strong back-to-back seasons.

The 2015 season put him on the radar.  Keller finished last year with 3,119 yards and 43 touchdowns.  He followed that up with another strong season in 2016 – 2,899 yards and 31 touchdowns.  Keller tells IndyScout that the recruiting process was “like a roller coaster” but one he is thankful for.

“One week I would have letters from five or more schools and then the next couple weeks I wouldn’t hear anything from anybody,” Keller said. “So it was an adventure, but something that you only get to do once in your life.”

Keller said he visited Marian four to five times.  He credited the Marian coaching staff, players, and family atmosphere as reasons for choosing to be a Knight.

“It just feels right.  Their coaching staff is like no other.  They all are super competitive and can be hard on you but in a good way.  I feel very thankful for the opportunity Marian has given me and with everything that I’ve seen and heard about them, it just seems right to go there.”

Taylor leads explosive Ben Davis offense

The Ben Davis Giants have scored at least 47 points in each of their three games since the tournament began, thanks to an explosive offense led by junior quarterback Reese Taylor.

Taylor has been outstanding as a dual-threat quarterback. Against Cathedral’s defense, which is filled with a number of FBS prospects, Taylor threw for five touchdowns and 323 yards. He lit up Brownsburg on the ground, too, finishing with two touchdowns and 160 yards, as well as 266 in the air.

Taylor can elude pressure, extend the play and pull the trigger when throwing on the move. He also puts nice touch on deep passes.  He possesses excellent top-end speed and can win in any footrace. Despite these strong qualities and many others, he currently holds no offers.

He will lead the Giants on Friday in the semi-state against defending state champion Center Grove. Ben Davis lost 21-7 in a regular season matchup back in Week 4. Still, Taylor tells IndyScout that he feels confident and prepared.

“If we have another great week of practice and stay focused how we have been for the last couple of weeks, then we will be successful,” Taylor said. “We have to come out strong and fast and just play Ben Davis football like we know how to.”

Dellinger finds ‘family’ in Cincinnati

Fort Wayne Snider OL Zenden Dellinger (2017) committed to Cincinnati last month. The 6’7” 280-pound offensive lineman had offers from South Florida, Colorado State, several Ivy League and MAC teams, but ultimately chose the Bearcats.

“I think the campus, the coaching staff, and just the way the team interacted with each other (and how) it felt like a family all tied into my decision,” Dellinger said. “I really liked the way the campus was set up. And Coach Tuberville and Grimes are very experienced.”

Dellinger is one of three Indiana commits for Cincinnati, the other two being Franklin Central WR Wil Huber, and Carmel WR Jalen Walker.

Lebanon DL Luke Terrill committed to Western Illinois over the weekend.  The 6’3″ 290 defensive tackle also had an offer from Eastern Illinois, but ultimately chose to be a Leatherneck on Saturday.

“It just felt right to me,” Terrill tells IndyScout of his choice. “They are a bunch of good, hard working people and very family oriented. I also have people I have played with and against at the school that I know.”
